The Belarusian market: a small market with strict rules
Belarus looks like an extension of the Russian market — same language, similar habits — which is why mistakes here are made out of inattention: ERIP not connected, a price shown without kopecks, users on Viber ignored. We check the product against a Belarusian checklist and run support in the channels people here write to.
What changes when you enter Belarus
The interface language is Russian; a Belarusian version is required for certain product categories and valued by the audience, but not demanded at scale. The ERIP payment system is a single settlement space through which people pay for everything from utilities to subscriptions, and for many services it is an expected payment method alongside cards. Prices and advertising face strict requirements: display format, mandatory information, restrictions for certain categories. The number one messenger is Viber, then Telegram.
- Payments: ERIP, Belkart and international cards through bePaid and bank providers, Oplati; cancellation and refund for each.
- Formats: the Belarusian rouble as Br or BYN after the amount with kopecks, phone +375, a single time zone.
- Prices: display in roubles with kopecks, requirements to show the full price.
- Advertising: mandatory advertiser details for a number of categories, restrictions for financial products and betting — a checklist with a lawyer.
- Platforms: Onliner and Deal.by among local ones, Wildberries and Ozon among external.
Pre-launch checklist
- Payment regression through ERIP and cards in test mode: finding the service in the ERIP tree, payment, refund.
- LQA of the Russian version for Belarusian formats: currency, kopecks, phones, addresses; a Belarusian version on request.
- Price and mandatory information checks on the storefront and in documents against a lawyer's checklist.
- Support in Viber and Telegram: templates, scenarios, escalation.
- Checks on local networks and devices through partners in the country.
The Belarusian version: when it is needed
For most consumer products the Russian version is enough. Belarusian is needed for public sector, education and culture products, and for brands building a local identity. If you decide to do it, we translate with a native speaker and run LQA as for any language: glossary, string length, formats.
Support after launch
First line in Russian in Viber, Telegram and the website chat under your playbook; with a Belarusian version — in two languages. Coverage hours on Minsk time, same-day escalation of payment questions, moderation of user content against platform rules.
